Abraham Lincoln once said "a divided house cannot stand." He was quoting Jesus.
Jesus said, in Matt 12:22-28
22 Then one was brought to Him who was demon-possessed, blind and mute; and He healed him, so that the [a]blind and mute man both spoke and saw. 23 And all the multitudes were amazed and said, “Could this be the Son of David?”
24 Now when the Pharisees heard it they said, “This fellow does not cast out demons except by [b]Beelzebub, the ruler of the demons.”
25 But Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand. 26 If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand? 27 And if I cast out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges. 28 But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you.
Christianity is just such a house, for it claims to be "the truth," while only ever rejecting the truth, a truth which every atom in the universe proclaims. That truth is that religions are simply a man-made ideas, just like the "Gods" those religions dream up for themselves, and sell for a living, along with the promise of eternal life.
And when you consider the fact that money is itself a God, it's easy to see how religion is simply the selling of one God for another, like Judas collecting thirty pieces of silver for selling Jesus. It's ironic, then, that, like Judas Iscariot, professional priests and preachers around the world, likewise all collect a fortune for selling Jesus as well, and only ever crucifying truth itself in the process.
And we pay them to do it, while we watch from the pews.
