What the Christian cannot see of Christianity, which is so clearly visible to everyone else, is how it is a religion that has been far, far more brutal in the world, than the Hebrews were in the Old Testament.
In fact, you could think of the planet - what was referred to in Greek mythology as Gaia - as basically being the body of Christ, because it's through the collusion of both church and state that Christ was murdered.
And as the former distracts us like a referee in a professional wrestling match, explaining to us about why we must "serve the rules," the latter treats the planet like Jesus in the hands of his Roman executioners. And the people with the deepest pockets can do whatever they like to it, including torture and crucifixion, and all compliments of the tax payer.
And the claim that the world would be a far worse place were it not for religion, only leaves me to wonder what basis I would have for burning someone at the stake for failing to agree with my belief that I have no right to judge them.
