In a World of Lies The Truth is a Prison

The lies of religion are some of the greatest lies ever conceived. So large are they, in fact, that they can only be said to have come from the father of all lies. Indeed, if there is any evidence for the existence of God, it comes from the fact that only the devil could've conceived of, and then convinced the world, that institutionalized religion - which, properly understood, has always been as opposite to "love" as hell is to heaven - could've come from God.

Institutionalized religion, after all, takes every fear a person has, and magnifies it with the threat of hell. So that when the Catholic Church declares that homosexuality is "unnatural," for example, it takes the natural human fear that people have of the things they do not understand and of the unknown - which is the strongest of all human fears - and makes them infinitely worse. It does this, by dubiously claiming that such a "fear" is not a fear at all, but the voice of God, speaking directly to people's hearts and minds, about the "natural law," and about the "true" nature of love, and so on.

It then compounds this fear by claiming - with all of the "infallible authority" of God himself no less - that those who dare to ever suggest otherwise, are not only enemies of peace and justice and morality here on here, and should therefore be feared just as much as the evil homosexual, but can only expect to burn for all of eternity in the lava of hell for doing so.

And worst of all, these "institutionalized religions" do this, while preaching everywhere that their venomous hatred is all really just an act of "pure love," which was exactly the same justification given by all those who were torturing heretics and burning witches at the stake. It is in this climate of extreme fear, of both homosexuals to society and one's soul, that any number of other evil powers have always worked their magic.

Take J. Edgar Hoover's War on Gays, for example.

In the United States, homosexuals were specifically targeted for discrimination from as early as 1937 until 1975. In the interest of national security, J. Edgar Hoover (who was himself a homosexual) wrote a directive in 1951 that unilaterally authorized a national program to “purge suspected homosexuals from government services.” This program was founded on the premise that “the widespread intolerance and condemnation of homosexuality by most of U.S. society at that time made homosexuals vulnerable to being blackmailed into betraying national secrets.”[i] Hoover’s one man crusade to rid America of its greatest internal threat, as he saw it, was code-named The Sex Deviates Program.

Carried out during the height of the Cold War between the U.S. and the U.S.S.R, The Sex Deviates Program targeted both “commies” and “queers” alike.  Due to the extreme climate of fear that permeated American society at that time, thanks to people’s religious beliefs, communists and homosexuals came to be seen as allies in a common scheme to destroy America from within by subverting both its moral and political values. (In fact, the Catholic Church has a long history of connecting homosexuality to any number of groups it determines to be heretical, including the Knights Templars.) To prevent this, an estimated five thousand federal employees, who were simply accused of being homosexual, were fired from their positions; and thousands more were forced to resign due to the brutal treatment they were subjected to by government security personnel.

This was not simply the result of discrimination, but something far more sinister. A person’s race, for example, was affixed at their time of their birth. Our morals, however, (as Christianity routinely reminds its adherents every Sunday) were under the constant threat of being corrupted. That threat added to people’s fear, and therefore hatred, of homosexuals. As lawyer John Steele wrote in a memo for the U.S. Civil Service Commission in Oct. 1964, the Commission’s “tendency to ‘lean over backwards’ to rule against a homosexual” was “simply a manifestation of the revulsion which homosexuality inspires in the normal person.”

That such “revulsion” was simply the result of centuries of religious indoctrination that had conditioned people to fear homosexuals as much as the devil himself was, for Steele, completely irrelevant. He went on to explain how the policy of barring gays from federal employment was because “most men look upon homosexuality as something uniquely nasty, not just a form of immorality.”[ii] He concluded in his letter that “it is problematical whether any study of the subject could result in overcoming an attitude this ingrained.” If he had not been so blinded by his own confirmation bias, however, Steele would have noticed that “normal” people had already been overcoming such an attitude, for more than a decade.

Christianity's demonizing of homosexuals in this way, has had wide spread and truly horrible effects.
Over the course of two decades, South Africa’s apartheid army forced white lesbian and gay soldiers to undergo brutal treatments in an attempt to “cure” them of their homosexuality. Army psychiatrists, assisted by chaplains, aggressively ferreted out suspected homosexuals from the armed forces and sent them to military psychiatric units. There, they were forced to undergo aversion shock therapy, hormone treatment, and other radical ‘psychiatric’ experiments. Those who could not be ‘cured’ with drugs or other means were either chemically castrated or given sex-change operations. Although exact numbers are not known, former apartheid army surgeons estimate that as many as 900 forced ‘sexual reassignment’ operations may have been performed as part of this top-secret program.

Likewise, in Uganda, thanks to the efforts of Christian missionaries from America who sponser America's Prayer Breakfast every year, a Member of Parliament, David Bahati, introduced a bill that would outlaw homosexuality in October of 2009. The new offense it sought to create in Uganda would be named “aggravated homosexuality,” which would be punishable as a capital offense.[i]

As recent as the 1950’s, this spiritual lust for salvation contributed to the castration of at least ten boys in the Netherlands. One report of the incident stated that “surgical removal of testicles was regarded as a treatment for homosexuality and also as a punishment for those who accused clergy of sexual abuse.”[i] No records were kept detailing what boys were castrated for which reason. Nevertheless, the procedure was performed by people who were as sure they were acting in defense of God and his moral absolutes as Hamlet was sure he was stabbing the King instead of Polonius. While obviously not the general rule for the vast majority of Christians, this example demonstrates how the religious condemnation of homosexuality can create a climate of fear against homosexuals that is so powerful and pervasive, that even mutilation begins to look like a moral means of guarding against it. Such are the “abuses of grief which the history of mankind has preserved” for the Cross, as John Quincy Adams wrote, “that fill … the blackest and bloodiest pages of human history.”

But what is truly miraculous about all of this, what truly boggles the mind, is how none of this, and so much more, is ever accepted by the Christian, as being the "fruit by which people" should judge their religion. No matter how many acts of child rape, no matter how many genocides were committed in the Old Testament, at God's command, or how many genocides, torture, murder, wars,  have been committed in the name of ChristianityNONE OF IT, is EVER "fruit" of Christianity. But if one Muslim kills for Islam, the Christian will assure you that that is undeniable "proof" of the fruit of the tree of Islam. And if an atheist kills countless numbers of people for, say, Nazism of Communism, it really consider to be the "fruit" of atheism, even though the vast majority of people who were engaging in the killings were ALL CHRISTIANS!

The truth, then, does not set you free, in this respect, far from it. The truth only gets you murdered, or castrated, or worse, by all those who swear to their "God" that they have "infallible truth." And when you live in world of lies, all of those who claim to know "infallible truth," turn truth itself into a prison, and a torture chamber.

Why Christianity is More Unnatural Than Homosexuality

I grew up in a family that is about as homophobic as Phil Robertson and the Westboro Baptists, only they're not quite as boisterous about it; at least not in public anyway. They have also conveniently convinced themselves  that their homophobia is really just their unique Christian ability to "hate the sin, but love the sinner" (even though these very same Christians adamantly refuse to accept that people can "hate Christianity, but love the Christian").  The sexual superiority complex necessarily relied on by such Christians is, of course, blanketed beneath the lambs wool of the Christian humility of serving "God." They interpret their fear of those who are different, in other words, as simply proof of their intimate knowledge and love of God. And the only thing such Christians are more sure about than that their own personal version of "God" exists, is that such a "God" would never want people to be homosexual - no matter how ma

Christianity: An Addiction of Violence Masquerading as Love: Part II

"But God by nature must love Himself supremely, above all else." Fr. Emmet Carter   This is part  two of a look at an article written about the "restorative and medicinal" properties of punishment, as espoused by Fr. Emmett Carter (https://catholicexchange.com/gods-punishment-is-just-restorative-and-medicinal/).  Ideas of this sort in Christianity go back to St. Augustine and Thomas Aquinas - two saints who saw the suffering of Christ as sure fire evidence that God needed humans to suffer to balance the cosmic scales of his love for us. Sure, he could've come up with a better game, or made better humans, but its apparently the suffering he really enjoys seeing. Carter's essay raises countless questions, especially about the true nature of God's blood lust, but lets stick to just four simpler ones. The first question deals with the idea of "free will." According to Christians, God designed us with the ability to freely choose to obey or offend h

Christianity: An Addiction of Violence Masquerading as Love: Part I

If the Holy Bible proves anything at all, it proves that the Christian God has a blood-lust like no other God in history. From Abraham to Jesus to the end times to eternal hell, the Christian God loves suffering even more than, or at least as much as, said God loves Himself. And if everything from the genocides in the Old Testament and God killing everyone on the planet with a flood, to Jesus being tortured and murdered (rather than the devil, who is the guilty one) and the fiery end of the world followed by the never ending fires of hell, are not enough to convince you that Christianity is really an addiction to violence masquerading as "love," just consider the psychotic rantings of a Catholic priest trying to convince his faithful flock that murder and mutilation - which he calls "punishment" -  are proof of just how much his "God" is pure love.  In an article published on https://catholicexchange.com/gods-punishment-is-just-restorative-and-medicinal/,
